Yes, getting a sofa in Malaysia may be an easy task for some - but sometimes we need to know what are the different types available so that we know it suits us best. The reason being not all of our room spaces allow any sofa to fit inside. Without further ado, here are the types of sofa available:

Types of Sofa in Malaysia

1. Sectional/Modular Sofa

This type of sofa usually consists of a few sections which are constructed in different arrangements. For instance, you can either separate the sections or combine them together.

The common modular shapes are:

• L Shape Sofa 
• U Shape Sofa 

As for the number of sections, the common sectional sofas are as below:

• 3 Seater Sofa 
• 4 Seater Sofa 
• 5 Seater Sofa 

Sectional sofas are a popular choice due to the fact that it’s easy to move them around. 

2. Chesterfield Sofa

Chesterfield sofas have a distinctive style to them which are usually made with rolled arms that are of the same height of the back together with a tufted or quilted design. You can say this is a more fancy version of a sofa (as it doesn’t wrinkle your clothes too!)

3. Loveseat Sofa

You don’t need to get too confused about a loveseat because it’s just another term for a two-seater sofa. If you don’t have a large family and it’s just the two of you, a loveseat sofa would be a good choice. It wouldn’t be ideal if you want to use it for an afternoon nap or anything like that, though. 

4. Sleeper Sofa or Sofa Beds

As the name suggests, this type of sofa in Malaysia is where you can use it as a sofa to sit on or make it into a bed to sleep on. Most of the time, you can pull it out underneath to make more room as it forms into a bed. 

The difference between a sleeper sofa and a sofa bed is that the former has a mattress or bed frame underneath whereas the latter is where you can just adjust it in order to lay it flat and become a bed.

5. Recliner Sofa

Love your afternoon naps or simply just kicking back and relaxing while watching TV? A recliner sofa has a footrest at the bottom which you can easily pull out while having the ability to recline the back rest according to your desired comfortable position. You can either control the recline position using a lever or a remote control.

6. Rattan Sofa

For a more rustic feel, a rattan sofa would be a great choice because it is made out of of course, rattan, and is a woven furniture which offers a casual style. You could place this either on your patio or living room if the vibe you’re going for is more natural and casual.

7. Tuxedo Sofa 

Do you fancy all things sophisticated? Well, a tuxedo sofa is a boxy sofa with armrests that are of the same height as the backrest. Therefore, it’s more of an upright, classy type of sofa with a quilted or tufted design. 

8. English Roll Arm Sofa

The English Roll Arm Sofa consists of rolled armrests and deep seats which allows you to get comfortable with a good book in hand or cup of coffee. It has cushions all over which is why it makes it comfortable enough to do pretty much anything on it.

9. Track Arm Sofa

If you’re looking for something that has rectangular armrests, the track arm sofa is what you should consider getting! Thanks to the flat rectangular armrests, you can easily prop it against the wall or any space. 

10. Low-Seated Sofa

Low-Seating sofas consist of a minimalistic design with a backrest height that’s quite low. You can typically place this sofa in living rooms or bedrooms as it comes with a design that’s simple and elegant to match any interior or space.
